随着加入世贸组织，中国进出口商品品检需求与日俱增。为迎合这个趋势，香港标准及检定中心于中国广东省东莞市设立了第一间独立、非牟利的产品检测中心——「东莞标检产品检测有限公司」，并已于2008年举行开幕典礼，正式投入服务。该中心面积超过三万五千平方米，可为区内制造商提供一站式的全方位服务。服务包括：测试服务、检验服务、认证服务以及技术服务。
东莞标检已成功获得国家质量监督检验检疫总局（AQSIQ）所颁发的《从事进出口商品检验鉴定机构资格证书》。并成功取得多个国家和国际权威机构的认可，包括中国合格评定国家认可委员会（CNAS）、美国哥马克阻燃实验室（Govmark）及德国认可委员会（DAkkS)等。此外，东莞标检亦获中饮标（北京）安全饮品认证中心颁发授权实验室证书；电波暗室更取得美国联邦通讯委员会（FCC）和加拿大工业组织（IC）的认可，为长远发展奠定了稳健基础。
东莞标检未来几年将进一步扩大服务及认可范围，并投放更多资源用于发展实验室仪器设备及工作管理系统，为国内企业及制作商提供更全面的检测及认证服务，协助业界推动工商业界发展。
